About the Recipe
Temaki Sushi (literally Hand Rolled Sushi) is a fun way to serve up sushi and get everyone making their own rolls, or more strictly speaking, their own sushi cones. It's also a great way to introduce people to the idea of sushi and the different flavour and texture combinations you can create. In the recipe below, I list avocado, raw salmon and cucumber as fillings but once you've got the hang of rolling your own, you can create your own combinations!
Ingredients
2 sheets of nori, cut into halve
150g sushi rice
for the filling:
4 thin strips, avocado
4 x 1.5cm / 0.75 inch strips, raw salmon
(sashimi grade)
4 x 8cm / 3.5 inch cucumber matchsticks
Preparation
spread a heaped dessertspoon of sushi rice onto the left side of a nori sheet
lay 1 piece of avocado, 1 piece of cucumber & 1 piece of salmon diagonally over the rice
fold the bottom left corner inwards, then wrap the right side around to form a cone shape
seal with a grain or two of sticky rice
serve with soy sauce & wasabi
