About the Recipe
So you've made some delicious tempura and you're going to present it on a bowl of rice as a tendon (tempura + donburi.) But isn't there something missing? Yes, the tendon sauce - that lovely sweet sauce that you drizzle over the top to turn your tendon into pure eating delight! Like my other sauces, this is easy, quick and cheaper than anything you'll find off the shelf. (Of course, it tastes better too!)
Ingredients
2 tbsp sugar
2.5 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp mirin
1/4 tsp japanese dashi granules
40 ml water
Preparation
put all the ingredients in a pan. bring to the boil while stirring and simmer for 1-2 mins or until the sauce become slightly thick
when the ten-don is ready, arrange your tempura over a bed of rice and drizzle with the sauce
